Collaboration
To enhance the lives of Carrie Tingley Hospital patients and their families, Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation partners strategically with community organizations.
New Collaboration leads to critical equipment donation for Zia Youth Handcycling Team
When the Cody Unser First Step Foundation staff and volunteers came to the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation Summer Wheelchair Sports Camp to demonstrate scuba diving for children in the program, we were thrilled and honored. What developed from that partnership this past June is an ongoing collaboration - nothing is sweeter than one foundation helping another.
The generous supporters, volunteers and staff at the Cody Unser First Step Foundation learned about the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation-sponsored Zia Youth Handcycling Team and made a signficant contribution to help this growing program: a donated stationary hand cycle (estimated value $1,000+). For this small, intramural sports club for children with special health care needs, this equipment donation helps the youth train and become comfortable with an adaptive handcycle. The Zia Handcyling Team is currently training every week to ride in the Day of the Tread later this October. Click here to learn more about the Zia Handcyclers!
The Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation is honored to partner with the Cody Unser First Step Foundation -- working together, we can stretch valuable resoruces, and this donated stationary hand cycle is a win-win that will help our growing program for years to come!
Highlighted collaborations include:
- Keshet Dance Company – Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation has partnered for several years, funding scholarships for UNM Carrie Tingley Hospital patients to participate in Keshet Dance Company programs and performances. “Unlimited Possibilities is the motto for Keshet Dance Company, a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide dance to everyone regardless of physical or financial barriers.”
- Clouddancers of the Southwest – Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation funds partial scholarships for UNM Carrie Tingley Hospital patients to participate in therapeutic horseback riding programming.
- Ronald McDonald House—When families are traveling from across the state to UNM Carrie Tingley Hospital, the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation can provide transportation assistance and collaborates with Ronald McDonald House on lodging—or a suitable local hotel if RMDH is full—for the family while the child is receiving care.
