Albuquerque Isotopes hold Dukes Retro Night -- proceeds from Jersey Auction benefit the children served by Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation.
The Albuquerque Isotopes celebrated a home victory on July 17th, playing in retro Dukes' jerseys. Thanks to the generous support of the Albuquerque Isotopes, the kids at Carrie Tingley Hospital were also winners that night, as well.
The Silent Auction of the Dukes' game jerseys raised $4,380 to help children with special health care needs served by the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation.
On July 23rd, John Traub (center in photo), General Manager of the Albuquerque Isotopes, presented the check on the field to Foundation representatives (l-r): Howie Herbert III, Christy Herbert, Cori Galles, and Phil Prevender.
The Isotopes play an important role every summer to the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation: our Beyond Limits Junior Wheelchair Sports Camp just isn't complete without a visit from Orbit and some of the players. At the end of this week-long camp, where the children learn and play wheelchair sports, the program includes a night-out to see an Isotopes game for sports camp participants, family members, and volunteers.
Many thanks to the Albuquerque Isotopes organization for their ongoing support and for this contribution.
And, thanks to all the Albuquerque baseball fans who bid so generously to help the kids!

There were 5 stages in this competition where participating police departments from Santa Fe, NM State Police, Edgewood, Moriarty, Torrance County, Bernalillo County, Sandoval County and Albuquerque tested their skills against cowboys and cowgirls from across New Mexico and the U.S.
This was the first annual Cops V. Cowboys Shooting Competition, and the event raised over $2,300 for the special needs children served by Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation.

Day of the Tread, a story of creative corporate philanthropy, with an emphasis on wellness

The Day of the Tread, organized and sponsored by the Embassy Suites Hotel & Spa here in Albuquerque set records in its third year. Over 1,200 riders and runners, dressed up in Halloween costumes, raised thousands for three beneficiary nonprofit organizations: the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation, Casa Esperanza, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. As part of their corporate giving philosophy, the Embassy Suites Hotel & Spa incorporates an emphasis on wellness.
Their call to action is "Grab your bicycle or lace up those running shoes!" And, in its 3 year history, the event has grown to offer cyclists four different routes, at 10, 25, 50, and 80 mile lengths as well as 5K and 10K runs and walks.
Among the cyclists every year is a group of talented Carrie Tingley kids--athletes who ride handcycles. The children train for the event on trails around the city and at the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation Beyond Limits Summer Wheelchair Sports Camp. At 2009's Day of the Tread, these handcyclists completed routes that were 12 and even 26 miles in length!
On February 3rd, 2010, Mark Gundlach, General Manager, and the Embassy Suites Hotel & Spa team generously presented representatives from the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation with a check for $11,022. This contribution comes at a critical time as more and more families served by the Foundation are experiencing increased need for assistance with their medical, therapeutic, and living costs rising. Our most heartfelt thanks to Embassy Suites Hotel & Spa for their partnership, for their creative philanthropic efforts, and for this remarkable gift! To learn more about this event, please visit www.dayofthetread.com. Save the date for 2010 -- Sunday, October 24th.
